    Windward Schools' Robotics Team

Introduction

Kailua High School x Le Jardin Academy

Kailua High School's Robotics Team is part of a joint program with Le Jardin Academy (and other Windward schools) named Ko'olaupoko Robotics. Ko'olaupoko Robotics participates in the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC), which is hosted at the University of Manoa's Stan Sheriff Center every Spring.

The robotics team works throughout the year to design, build, test, and operate a custom-made robot to complete tasks and games. The team's robot design and operating skills are put to the test as they compete against other high schools in Hawaii, and even schools from other states and countries!

Opportunities

Throughout the year, not only do students learn the technical skills it takes to be an engineer and entrepreneur, but it also teaches valuable life skills like teamwork, communication, leadership, resourcefulness, and adaptability.

The robotics team is open to anyone interested, whether you are completely new to robotics and engineering or a veteran in the field!

First Robotics Competition (FRC)

Hawai‘i FIRST Robotics (HFR) is a 501 (c)(3) organization that coordinates robotics tournaments and expos for teams of students ages 6 through 18 in Hawai’i. HFR serves as the official partner in Hawai’i for FIRST LEGO League Explore, FIRST LEGO League Challenge, FIRST Tech Challenge, and FIRST Robotics Competition programs of FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology). HFR shares and implements the rules and guidelines of FIRST. Through these programs, HFR works to “motivate young people to pursue education and career opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), while building self-confidence, knowledge, and life skills.” HFR was formerly known as Hawai’i FIRST LEGO League (HFLL). The name was changed to accurately reflect all of the FIRST programs that HFR is responsible for coordinating.
